What are your favorite things lately?

December as a whole was a favorite for me.
Not only do I love all-things Christmas, we welcomed our second daughter in late October (birth story post coming soon!) and our older daughter (who is 2.5) started to really get into the Christmas spirit!
So although I didn’t get to do nearly the amount of cooking and baking as I like to do, newborn snuggles and a toddler experiencing the Christmas magic sure made up of it!
#1 This GENIUS nursing cover

I tried with nursing covers when I had my first daughter, and I just couldn’t.
I couldn’t see what was going on. She couldn’t see what was going on. I couldn’t stop sweating. Etc.
Ultimately, I ended up foregoing using a nursing cover in public despite being totally uncomfortable/wishing I had the coverage.
Then, a fellow mom friend whipped this one out at my house, and I was ordering it as she was telling me how much she loved it (hopefully you’re doing the same as you’re reading this post!)
Buy one for yourself! Buy one for your friends or anyone who is expecting! It will be an instant favorite!
Oh, and they are machine washable – I was worried you couldn’t put it in the dryer with the hoop things, but you can.
P.S. This is my favorite nursing bra, especially if you’re busty.
#2 Lore Pemberton Illustrations

She really is just the best. And her illustrations are breathtaking.
I think one of the reasons why I am so drawn to her artwork is because it captures the season of motherhood I’m in and the imagery of living in the northern woods of Vermont is where I daydream about living with my family.
Also this one titled Same Moon…the title and the illustration make my mama heart ache in the best way. I find such comfort in it!
#3 My very affordable sheets from Target

I know there are a lot of super soft sheets out there, but hear me out. These ones from Target is seriously soft. And they only get softer. I’ve been buying these sheets for well over ten years now. Trust me on this one!
They also carry these sheets in tons of cute patterns. Here’s a link. And how pretty are these blush sheets?
And I know this pillow is pricey, but we have it and I’ve never once thought about the money I spent on it. It’s that comfy.
#4 Elin Hilderbrand’s Summer of ’69

In efforts to stay away from scrolling during my middle-of-the-night newborn feeds, I opted for downloading the Kindle app to my phone and read instead.
I just finished 1969 by Elin Hilderbrand, and I love it!
She’s definitely one of my favorite authors at the moment!
Hilderbrand is definitely an author worth binge-reading. The Five-Star Weekend, The Hotel Nantucket, and The Academy are all page-turners too!
#5 Highlights Magazines For Kids

I recently got a subscription to Highlights Magazines for my daughter, and it’s quickly become a favorite in our household.
It’s so fun to get the mail together and sit down and read and do the activities in each magazine that comes every month.
Here are some links to a few more of her favorite things at the moment (she’s 2.5):
- This ABC book
- Play-Doh (classic!) and some tools (tip: only give your child 2-3 colors at a time, since they end up mixing them all together, turning the Play-Doh brown)
- My daughter LOVES to help chopping fruit and veggies with these knives
- These keep her occupied for a decent amount of time
And speaking of Favorites, this is the perfect time of year to host a Favorite Things Party. Read all about hosting a Favorite Things Party and gift ideas here.
